Description

This practical session will provide practice nurses and vaccine service providers in the Brisbane South PHN area with the knowledge to manage vaccines and perform vaccination catch-ups. Nurses and providers who are new to planning vaccination catch-ups and have a limited knowledge of initiating immunisation catch up schedules, or wish to update their knowledge, will benefit from attending this session.

This is a recurring education session.

Prior to attending this education session you are required to complete the following online courses developed by Queensland Health Immunisation Program: Immunisation course 4: Catch-up vaccinations (Mandatory) and Immunisation Course 2: Vaccine management (Recommended)

AUDIENCE: Practice nurses participating in the PNSP, other nurses, GPs and vaccine providers

SPEAKERS: Public Health Nurse, Metro South Public Health Unit

TOPICS:

  • how to start a catch-up for children less than 10 years of age
  • special considerations – medical at risk, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • catch-up scenarios
  • immunisation records
  • vaccine management and cold chain breach
